Former NBA player Kyle Singler charged with beating girlfriend in Oklahoma

Former Duke standout and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kyle Singler has been charged with misdemeanor assault in Oklahoma stemming from an alleged domestic incident involving his girlfriend.
The 37-year-old man was arrested Thursday in the eastern Oklahoma town of Whitefield after a 911 caller reported Kyle was “chasing a woman outside a residence,” the Associated Press reported. He was booked into the Haskell County Jail and later released on $6,000 bond, according to jail records.
Singler was charged Tuesday with one misdemeanor count of assault and battery in the presence of a child, court documents show. His girlfriend told deputies that Singler “grabbed her head and pushed her to the ground,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Deputy Mitch Dobbs, who responded to the scene, reported the woman had visible injuries. “Deputy Sheriff Mitch Dobbs also reported that he could observe the outline of fingers on the woman's face and marks on her arms,” NBC Sports wrote. The woman also told authorities that Singler was the father of her young child and that the child was present during the altercation.
Dobbs further noted that Singler was not cooperating with law enforcement and “appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.”
Currently, there is no attorney listed for Singler in court and jail records. His former agent, Jason Ranne, confirmed via email that he “no longer represents Singler.”
Nearly a year ago, the former NBA forward sparked concern among fans and former teammates with a cryptic Instagram post. In that post, Singler said he “feared for his life,” which sparked an outpouring of support from across the basketball community.
A former NCAA champion and the 2010 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, Singler was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 2011 with the 33rd overall pick. He then joined the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he played four seasons before leaving the NBA in 2018.
