Warriors urged to trade Derrick White to help Stephen Curry

It would be a nightmare for the Celtics to see another Boston player leave for the Warriors, but that's what one insider is proposing.

Just when Ronaldo fans got to see Al Horford in a Warriors uniform, Derrick White was named by Greg Swartz as the Warriors' ideal trade target.

Swartz called White “the perfect backcourt partner for 38-year-old Steph Curry, who probably won't be an All-Defensive contributor every night.”

He added, “At 31, Derrick White is no longer young, but he looks like a chicken next to Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Al Horford on the Golden State Warriors.”

But he's not done yet. He went on to call White “maybe the best shot-blocking defender we've seen since Dwyane Wade.”

However, it doesn’t look like Boston will be letting him go anytime soon.

Celtics vice president of basketball operations Mike Zaren addressed rampant offseason trade rumors surrounding White and Jaylen Brown.

“Both of these guys are great, great NBA players and there's nothing serious about trading them,” Zaron said. “These guys are a critical part of our team and we’re lucky to have them here.”

Derrick's father, Richard White, believed in a recent interview that Derrick's son could become the next breakout star in the Eastern Conference.

“There are a lot of superstars in the league now, but they weren't that way in the beginning,” White said of his son to Garden Report. “I mean, Brunson was stuck behind Luka in Dallas, and no one thought Brunson was going to be that way. But if you give him the opportunity and the ability to do a lot of things, that's what you get.

“He's willing to do anything to not lose. So, if it means he has to score more points, he's going to do that … so the ball might be in his hands more. But if that leads to a shot, it's because he's open. If that leads to a pass, or setting a screen, or anything like that, that's what he needs.”
