Bucks add Alex Antetokounmpo in historic two-way deal

The Antetokounmpo family is taking over Milwaukee again.

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Alex Antetokounmpo, the youngest of the five Antetokounmpo brothers, to a two-way contract, reuniting him with Giannis and Thanasis in a truly historic roster move.

This is also the first time in NBA history that three brothers played for the same team at the same time.

The 23-year-old went undrafted in 2021 and spent time with the G-League's Raptors 905 and the Wisconsin Herd before returning overseas.

Last season, he played 14 games for the Greek PAOK team, averaging 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

While Alex is expected to spend the majority of the season with the Herd, his presence in Milwaukee will be more than symbolic.

The Antetokounmpo family is synonymous with family loyalty, and this reunion is another chapter in that story.

Thanasis, who has been with the Bucks for five seasons, missed all of last year with a torn Achilles tendon.

He re-signed to a one-year, $2.9 million contract this offseason to continue running with his brother Giannis.

Meanwhile, Kostas Antetokounmpo spent three seasons in the NBA, winning a championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 before returning to Europe. The eldest brother, Francis, gave up basketball to pursue professional football.

As for Giannis, the two-time MVP continues to anchor Milwaukee's future. Last season, he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game, earning his ninth consecutive All-Star selection. While trade rumors are swirling about him joining the New York Knicks, Giannis isn't going anywhere… at least not yet.

“There were reports that the Bucks were in trade talks with the New York Knicks recently for him, but Giannis shut down the news and insisted he wanted to stay in Milwaukee for the time being,” Shams Charania reported.
