Steve Kerr opens up uncertain future among Warriors coaches

Steve Kerr has been in the center of the Golden State Dynasty for more than a decade, but the four-time champion coach is in the final year of his contract, without a clear answer to what will happen next.

But he didn't seem to mind.

“I’m comfortable entering this season with only one year left [on the deal],” Kerr told reporters through NBC Sports Bay Area. [GM] microphone [Dunleavy] and [owner] Joe [Lacob]. No reason to discuss [or] concern. This is a point in our relationship, let's see what happens at the end of the year. ”

Kerr is his last season of a two-year, $35 million extension signed in February 2024.

While he admits he would like to continue leading the teams beyond this season, he stressed that he is not rushing to complete his future.

“I love my job,” Kerr said. “I love what I'm doing every day… I hope I'll be coming for a few more years. I hope we'll run it back and keep moving forward with this group. But I like the fact that we can do that.”

The 59-year-old also downplayed the possibility of an extended conversation this season.

“I don't expect any negotiations to take place this season,” Kerr said. “Who knows, maybe everything comes up at some point and they come to me, anyway. But I don't care about it. I don't think about it.”

Whenever his run in the Bay ended, Kerr insisted that it would happen in a good way.

“If this is what I’m going to keep moving forward, then I’m going to keep moving forward,” Kerr said. “If the team is going to keep going with the rest of the people, it’s going to be more than just gratitude and appreciation.
