Jonathan Kuminga skips Jimmy Butler

The Golden State Warriors are less than a week away from training camp, but Jonathan Kuminga is still out of the way because of the contract talks booth.

Jimmy Butler organized a small training camp in San Diego this week, bringing Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and other rosters together for the game and the bond outside.

“Jimmy Butler actually held a small training camp in San Diego this week. This is the first year for Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler,” ESPN’s Shams Charania explained in the NBA today. “A player who is not there, the only player on the roster of potential fighters who is not there, is restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga. My understanding is that he is not showing up on this team function, this is this friendly little training camp in San Diego. It's still in a stalemate.”

Charania added more details about the negotiations.

“Today, I talked with Aaron Turner, Kumingga Agent, and he told me that player choices are still crucial in these conversations,” Charania said. “We know that three years, $75 million offer, or two years, they all have a team choice. Like Quentin Grimes, he has to decide before his decision, but those aspects are still in a stalemate.”

Dalton Johnson of the NBC Sports Bay area also confirmed that Cumminga was not present despite the team's hope that he would be.

Turner made it clear last week that there was no hatred between Kubinga and the senior core of Golden State. He stressed that there was “no drama or bad feeling” between his clients and Butler, curry or green.
