Lakers must fix shooting or face disappointment: SHAQ

Shaq never shyly said his thoughts, and his latest comments to the Lakers proved nothing has changed.

“They have a legal big player now, with two prime minister players,” Shaq told RG. “I'm still worried about the shooting. It's a three-point league. Not someone who can shoot, (I'm talking about) a real shooter. Guaranteed people, like JJ Reddick.

The Lakers, who ended last season, ranked 15th with three-point shooting percentage and 15th with three-point shooting. This kind of middle performance can be expensive at the stacked western conference.

“You're going to get eight games to make the playoffs, and I want them to have some kind of family occasion advantage,” Shaq added. “You have two prime minister players, you have a big guy who can do something. Those three should be able to get you to four to four points, and I'd be very disappointed if they don't have a home advantage in the playoffs.”

Los Angeles completed the 2024-25 season with a record of 50-32, enough to get the third seed. But they were wiped out in the first round and fell 4-1 into the Timberwolves. The size matches Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle, their shooting was exposed.

O'Neal also made bold assumptions about his 2000s Lakers team with bold assumptions.

“When T-Mac goes out alone, you have to understand that he really doesn't have space,” Shaq said. Record it. “Our guy (Kobe) has room to operate because I have three guys,” O'Neal said. “I could have won three straight consecutively with T-Mac. I think I could have got two with Vince (Carter). I know I'll get six with Steph (Curry).
