Myles Turner shocked the NBA world in the offseason when he left Indiana for Milwaukee, but the big man said his decision boiled down to one thing.
“Ultimately, it's just staying competitive,” Turner said at a press conference in Las Vegas on Friday. “Two years ago, [the Pacers] Entering the Eastern Conference Finals. Apparently, we reached the NBA finals last year. But there, winning a part of basketball just changed my entire view of the league and I saw the opportunity to stay competitive here. Milwaukee shocked many people by clearing enough hat space to land Turner.
Turner, Indiana, reportedly in negotiations, said the Bucks abandoned and stretched out Damian Lillard's contract to free the room due to luxury tax issues.
“I'm tired of bringing my damn shoulders and elbows all the way to my chest,” Turner laughed. “It's rare to fight with him. He's arguably one of the greatest players to play this game. I'm sure we'll be talking here in the next few weeks. I've been playing Giannis for a long time. Very familiar with his game and his abilities. I do see a seamless guy. The intangibles are there.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers sat next to Threr The Presser, and he also spoke about concerns about Giannis Antetokounmpo's future in Milwaukee.
“Come to me the day after the season, and we're already talking about next season,” Rivers said. “So there's a lot more talk outside of Milwaukee than inside Milwaukee. Giannis loves Milwaukee. We love Giannis, it's a good relationship… So, we're talking a lot. It's about next year, it's about winning.”
