Renewal investment of US$2.5 billion in India's hybrid renewable energy

Renew Energy Global has announced plans to invest Rs 20,000 crore (US$2.5 billion) in one of India's largest hybrid renewable energy projects.
The project will be located in the Anathapur district of Andhra Pradesh State and will provide about 2.8GW of power generation capacity.
The hybrid plan will include a solar peak of 1.8 GW and a 1 GW wind power of 1 GW and consist of a 2 GWH battery storage system (BESS).
The project is expected to become one of the most extensive renewable energy complexes in a single location in India.
Andhra Pradesh’s Minister of Information Technology Nara Lokesh, along with renewed founder, Chairman and CEO Sumant Sinha, laid the foundation for the project.
The initial phase will establish 587 MW peak (MWP) solar energy and 250 MW of wind capacity, as well as 415 MWh of bass.
The first phase of the Power Procurement Agreement (PPA) has been completed and additional capabilities are planned for the future phase.
The project aims to improve peak demand management through substantial BES, providing power for up to four peak hours a day.
Under India's manufacturing plan, the project will use 100% domestically produced solar panels from renewed manufacturing facilities in Jaipur and De Holira.
Waterless robot cleaning of solar tracking systems and solar panels will be used to enhance the generation and conserve water resources.
Currently, in ten locations in Andhra Pradesh, renewals are renewed to manage a portfolio of 717MW of operating wind and 60MW of solar capacity.
Lokesh said: “The project is aligned with Andhra Pradesh’s integrated clean energy policy and contributed to India’s 500GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030. The project proves Andhra Pradesh’s national leader as a national leader in clean energy.
“We are not only building capabilities, but also building credibility and confidence among global investors. I commend the renewal of the project and hope for more such investments in the future.”
The new initiative will create 1,500 direct and indirect efforts to help the state’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
Sinha said: “The status of Andhra Pradesh demonstrates investor-friendly policies, excellent transmission connections and the abundance of solar and wind resources.
“We are very optimistic about the ability to develop large-scale renewable energy capacity in the state to promote the Prime Minister’s goal of achieving 500GW of non-fossil fuel generation capacity by 2030.”
