Google Photos is under overhaul for editing and new sharing features for 10th birthdays

Google Photos is 10 years old, and the search giant celebrates the milestone and publishes a blog post announcing upcoming new features and offers some tips to get the most out of your photo experience.

The previous Pixel 9 exclusive features will soon be available on more devices and will be easier to find in the app. This includes an automatic frame that extends the background of the photo and reimagines it, which uses only text prompts to reproduce selected parts of the photo. But the biggest announcement is that the photo editor itself is being redesigned.

The new editor looks much simpler and is in line with Material 3 Exprandive (Google)’s new visual overhaul for Android 16, which is more colorful and animated. Google says photos will become smarter over time, “through AI to push possible boundaries, unlocking new ways to relive, connect and share memories.”

Google said it conducted 370 million searches per month, shared 440 million memories and edited 210 million photos.

Updated photo editor, easy to use

The upcoming photo editor redesign will put all editing tools in the same location for easy access. Other features include new AI suggestions that combine multiple effects at once to enhance your photos.
