Google Lens is about to launch YouTube shorts

YouTube shorts are an addition to Beta test Google Lens. Integrating the technology into a short video platform will allow viewers to search for more information about what they see in the clip. The feature will be launched to all shorts users this week.

Once it is enabled on your account, you can access the feature by pausing the video, selecting the lens from the top menu, and then tapping or highlighting the elements of the clip to search for the lens. Visual matching and search results will be covered on short. More details are available in Google's.

Announcement Beta noted that ads will not be displayed in the results of the test phase. Additionally, it notes: “The shorts for YouTube shopping affiliate links or paid product promotions are not available for lens experience.” While the beta test will not be commercially relevant, it feels like an integration that will likely become a shopping-centric resource in the future.
