SpaceX launches another starship but loses control for 30 minutes

After the back-to-back explosion, SpaceX launched its Mega Rocket Starship again Tuesday night, but when the spacecraft got out of control and ruptured, there was no main target.

The 123-meter rocket exploded in its 9th demonstration at Starbase, SpaceX launch site in the southern tip of Texas.

CEO Elon Musk's SpaceX hopes to release a series of simulated satellites after the rise, but is eliminated because the door fails to open all the way. The spacecraft then began to spin as it swept through uncontrolled re-entry space in the Indian Ocean.

SpaceX later confirmed that the spacecraft had undergone “fast external disassembly” or rupture. “The team will continue to review the data and work to achieve our next flight test,” the company said in an online statement.

Musk noted in an article on X that this is a “significant improvement” of the first two demos, which ended with burning fragments on the Atlantic Ocean. Despite the latest setbacks, he promised to propose a faster launch speed, which surged every three to four weeks on the next three flights.

This is the first flight of one of Musk's spacecraft (designed to travel to the moon and Mars) to fly with a recycled booster. There is no plan to grab giant chopsticks on the launch pad, and the company pushes it to restrictions. Contact with the booster was lost at some point and as the spacecraft continued toward the Indian Ocean, it hit the Gulf of Mexico.

Then, the spacecraft got out of control, apparently due to a fuel leak.

“For many orbital targets today, it doesn't look good,” said SpaceX Flight commentator Dan Huot, who has been seeking to test the spacecraft's heat shield during a controlled re-entry.

Communications stopped before the spacecraft fell, and SpaceX ended its network broadcast shortly afterwards.

The first two starships never surpassed the Caribbean. Earlier this year, the demonstration ended a few minutes after rising, bringing the wreckage into the ocean. Despite damage to the airline’s travel, no injuries or serious damage were reported. The Federal Aviation Administration cleared the Starship for another flight last week, expanding the dangerous area and pushing the lift beyond the peak air travel time.

In addition to taking corrective measures and upgrading, SpaceX has modified the hot tiles of the latest spacecraft and installed special takeover accessories. This one was originally sunk in the Indian Ocean, but the company wanted to test the add-ons to capture future versions on the mat like a booster.

NASA needs SpaceX, making great strides in next year’s aircraft company (the largest and most powerful rocket ever) to bring astronauts back to the moon. Next year's moon with four astronauts will fly around the moon, but will not land. This will happen first in 2027 and requires the interstellar spacecraft to go from lunar orbit to the ground and retreat again.
