EA and developer Cliffhanger game kill its “Black Panther” game

Two years ago, EA announced the game for new developer Cliffhanger Games' Marvel Hero Black Panther. Now, the project has been cancelled.

Per ign, EA Entertainment President Laura Miele sent an email confirming that the game was cancelled and Cliffhanger was closing. At the time of writing, it is not clear how many employees are affected, as publishers are trying to transfer employees to other projects where possible. The cuts per Mill are meant to “boosted our attention and put our creativity under the most important growth opportunities”.

“These decisions are difficult. They affect people who we work with, learn from and share real moments,” she continued. “We are doing everything we can to support them – including finding opportunities within the EA where we successfully help people in new roles.”

In late February 2024, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the publisher would “get rid of future licensed IP development, which we think will be successful in our ever-changing industry.” The directive does not seem to affect its two known Star Wars Game, bit reactor Zero Company Expired in 2026, third Jedi Title of Respawn Entertainment development.

Marvel has not commented on the cancellation of the game yet.
