It's not a secret that the sequel is being produced. In 2022, CDPR shared a roadmap describing “Project Orion.” It will further develop [the Cyberpunk 2077] universe. “It’s clear if the word “sequel” is not used.
Now CDPR is moving forward with codenames as development. “A few weeks ago, the CD Projekt Red team responsible for the next big match of the Cyberpunk Universe completed the conceptual phase of the project,” the publisher wrote. “So, Cyberpunk 2 (formerly known below the codename project Orion) has evolved into pre-production.”
Of course, there is still a long way to go into pre-production compared to what you can play with. After the last fiasco, expect CDPR to work safely and spend more time in the final stages.
Relatedly, CDPR says Phantom Freedom 10 million copies have been sold. Massive expansion launches on PC and consoles by the end of 2023. It is Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Editionwhich includes basic games and all DLCs. This version arrives on PC and console in 2023. It will be heading to Switch 2 and MacOS soon.
