OURA’s smart rings get better at tracking your activities

OURA has launched an event update for Gen3 and Ring 4 users, which includes a new trend view of active minutes so they can better understand how active they are during their day, week, or even month. They will also be able to add their maximum heart rate to the active settings, while URA will adjust the heart rate area accordingly. Now, OURA allows users to manually add or edit activities, not just on a specific day, it can now display heart rate data from activity imported from partner integrations via Apple Healthkit and Android via Apple Healthkit and Health Connect. Its automatic activity detection feature has also been updated to work throughout the hours to track movement, even between midnight and 4 a.m.

In addition to these new features, OURA has upgraded its system to count steps more accurately. The company uses advanced machine learning models to determine if motion is an actual step, and says the technology reduces the average daily step count error by 61%. It also upgrades its active calorie burning feature to be more accurate so that the heart rate is considered during exercise. Now OURA can also use the phone's GPS data to display your running and stroll in its app. All of these updates are available on iOS now, but until June, Android's new fitness metrics and new trend views will not be released on Android.

In addition to announcing its upgrades, OURA has revealed its new partnership with third-party entities. Users can now connect their smart rings to CorePower Yoga so that they can track yoga activities, engraving society, Technogym and Open, which uses human biometric technology to create personalized recovery rituals for them.
