My favorite laptop weighs less than the MacBook Air, and this is the first time it's sold

The Asus Zenbook A14 is one of the lightest 14-inch laptops you can buy right now. When I first saw it at CES 2025, I was sure it would be my new travel laptop. After all, you'll get an OLED screen, a Snapdragon X Plus chipset, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, designed to be lighter than Apple's MacBook Air. Although I didn't sell it for the price, the arm-powered laptop is now available for sale on Memorial Day Best Buy.

This is the first time the Asus Zenbook A14 has been released since its launch. My favorite version, in the Zabriskie beige color, can be used $200 discount This week. As a result, the price of this $1,000 laptop fell to $800 from May 19 to May 26, without the need for special codes. If you've been looking for a lightweight mid-sized laptop, Memorial Day is the chance to bag the Zenbook A14.

Why I recommend the Asus Zenbook A14

The Asus Zenbook A14 is one of the best laptops you can buy right now, and I love using it for three reasons. First, it offers a longer battery life, and I mean, you can extend it to two days without a charger. I can carry it in my travel backpack without worrying about the availability of the power outlet. In fact, the Snapdragon X variant is just a review of the second laptop CNET, with a battery life of over 24 hours and the HP Omnibook X 14 lasts an hour.

This makes me the second reason why I like to use the Asus Zenbook A14: OLED screen. HP laptops lasted longer during CNET testing thanks to the LCD display, but the ZenBook didn't compromise on its screen to provide excellent battery life.

You'll get a 14-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1,920×1,200 pixels. It may not be as sharp as the 2.8K OLED screen on the Asus Zenbook S 14, but you won't use another laptop with a combination of 24 hours + battery life and OLED displays in this price range.

I love the excellent contrast and dark layers of the OLED screen. In CNET's Spyder X Colorimeter's test, it showed 100% coverage of SRGB and P3 space, while 97% of AdoberGB. My only annoyance is the thick bezels, which makes it a little less immersive than other Asus laptops.

Third, the Asus Zenbook A14 is surprisingly lightweight. At just 2.4 pounds, it's the lightest arm laptop you can buy right now. Asus has not yet swapped the build quality to a lightweight form factor. Its stool is both rigid and lightweight, keeping the weight stable without making the laptop feel cheap or fragile. Plus, it has scratches, stains and anti-fingerprints.

Things to remember before buying an Asus Zenbook A14

The Asus Zenbook A14's keyboard provides a satisfying experience, and the trackpad is reliable. The Snapdragon X Plus variant of the A14 (for sale) is stronger than the Snapdragon X model, but not for powerfully intensive tasks. If you want to use a video editing tool that you want to crave, this laptop is not for you. The M4 MacBook Air can provide you with this use case.

This Asus Zenbook A14 is for those who are always on the go and want extra-long battery life without compromising the quality of the screen. This is a great laptop, especially if you are traveling for a super light, super running laptop.
