Multiple crashes occurred while chasing suspicious carjackers in Los Angeles

In a wild pursuit Monday, a carjacking suspect crashed into two patrol vehicles, causing one to hit a nearby house and rolled the stolen vehicle.

Officials at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lakewood Station said deputies responded to a carjacking call Monday afternoon in the 8800 block of Alondra Avenue.

Officials said deputies found a stolen car driven in the area by the suspect and believed the suspect was armed. From there, the car's pursuit began.

Officials said deputies transitioned to “surveillance mode” while chasing Carson's vehicle about 10 miles, meaning they wanted the suspect to slow down. When the driver speeds or behaves unsteadily, the police may be transferred from the active pursuit.

The side of the suspect was dragged by the representatives in the semi-truck, but continued to drive. After the crash, officials said the suspect deliberately crashed their vehicle into two independent patrol vehicles.

The suspect then crashed into the car they were in, rolled it over and landed on the roof.

According to Ktla, the hunt ended at the intersection of Broadway and South Avenue. The suspect was then detained. Officials did not provide additional details about the person.

Helicopter video from KTLA shows a patrol vehicle in which the suspect crashed was forced into a nearby house.

Lakewood officials said two deputies in the car that was hit were injured. One was treated on site, the other was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Officials did not provide information about any home or other injuries during the pursuit or during the crash.
