Netanyahu to meet in Washington

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet President Trump at the White House on Monday, an Israeli leader on his second visit since the new administration began in January, a White House official said.
While Mr. Trump’s aides work to promote a new truce to stop fighting and free hostages, Mr. Netanyahu will arrive in Washington after restarting Israeli military campaign against Hamas late last month.
A spokesperson for Mr. Netanyahu did not respond to a request for comment. The Israeli Prime Minister has been on a state visit in Hungary, where he met with the country's leader, Viktor Orban.
During Mr. Netanyahu's last visit, Mr. Trump described his vision for Gaza, involving the US takeover and the massive exit of Palestinians from the enclave. Mr. Netanyahu has since issued a call for what he calls a voluntary immigration to Gaza, a valid deportation that critics have condemned.
Since the war resumed in late March, Israeli forces have been steadily bombing Gaza and further into the enclave. Israel also bans aid from entering Gaza, apparently putting pressure on Hamas, leading to fears that the humanitarian crisis for Gaza civilians will worsen.
The Trump administration put its weight behind Israel, accusing Hamas of returning to the fight. Hamas accused Israel of overturning the ceasefire by Trump aides to help his agent.
