Palworld continues to fight Nintendo's legal battle to remove PAL glide

Nintendo's lawyer kills another Palworld Game mechanic. PocketPair released a patch Thursday that changed the way gliding works in cheeky "Pokémon with gun" Satire.

You can still slide in Palworldbut you can no longer use your friends to do this. Starting with patch v0.5.5, you can only soar in stock with boring lifeless gliders. Although the Glider Pals can still be passively polished, it is no longer as fun as escaping creatures and using its aerodynamics to span ravines.

As you would expect, Pocketpair’s decisions can be traced back to its legal defense. Nintendo and Pokémon sued Japanese developers last year, claiming Palworld infringed multiple patents. Since then, Nintendo has announced a series of patent applications in the United States on a global scale in terms of legal attacks in the United States.

"We know that this will be disappointing for many people, just like for us" Pocketpair wrote. "But we want our fans to understand that these changes are necessary to prevent further damage Palworld."

Today’s update isn’t the first game to try to avoid the Mario maker’s legal barrage. In November, Palworld eliminated the ability to summon friends by throwing Spheres, one of the more Pokémon-style details in the game. But gliding is a less mature Pokémon game mechanic. Most importantly, it is a commonplace in the industry, and a variety of crying found in franchises, Fortnite and Batman: Arkham.

The lawsuit sparked concerns that industry behemoths would become more common using courts to put out smaller competitors. "The video game patent mechanism must be completely dead because of how major companies abuse it to weaken any game, or waste any competition like the nemesis system in medieval games," u/densecalligrapher219 was performed on reddit.

Another way to check out Nintendo's moves is to mask the stench of a stagnant franchise. "If Nintendo is going to destroy other Pokémon-like games, then at least they can do is let the game freak develop a Pokémon game that is not junk." Written u/vulnerable thought. "The lazy half-ass developer in the world is the largest franchise in the world."
