Steve Kerr follows NBA rules after Steph Curry's injury: “It's just stupid”

In the Warriors Game 5, Golden State broadcast, Dillon Brooks intentionally tried on Steph Curry's injured right thumb (first 3-pointer).
Since then, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has commented on the issue. He thwarted the rules and even allowed the connection.
“So, the rule in the NBA is that once you shoot, you can hit a man's arm,” Kerr said. “So what's going on in the league this year is that players are always, they will go beyond the rules. They know what they are doing.
“So, players across the league are just shooting the Guys shooters after being released because they know it won't be fouled.”

Kerr refers to specific rules in the official NBA rulebook. It states:
“Please note that after the shooter releases the ball, the shooter's contact can be contacted with the shooter's hand. As long as the contact is accidental, it is not hostile and not too physical.”
Kerr thinks this is nonsense and he is confident that the league will solve the problem.
“I'm very confident that the league will fix it next year because it's only a matter of time before someone breaks a thumb or breaks a hand or anything,” he said. “But these are the rules. I do believe that they can call publicly if they want. The referee can call publicly if they're entangled and fired a shot.”
“But, no, it's happening throughout the league for a whole year. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but we have to change that change through the league process, which could happen this summer.”
As for Brooks, when asked, he did not completely deny the allegations intentionally targeted Stephen.
“I’ve been playing games,” Brooks said. “If I had ankle injury, I would have attacked that ankle every time. So, no matter what they said on the radio, they could keep saying it.”
