Nintendo Switch 2 delays U.S. due to Trump's tariffs

Two reservations for the Nintendo Switch in the U.S. will begin on April 9, but those plans seem to have changed due to new tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump this week. It is unclear whether this means Nintendo also has to raise the price of the conversion successor, which currently starts at $450.

Nintendo said on Friday that it delayed its Switch 2 reservations in the United States, but its June release date will not be affected.

“U.S. Nintendo Switch 2 reservations will not begin on April 9, 2025 to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,” the company said in a statement. “Nintendo will update the timing later. The June 5, 2025 release date remains unchanged.”

Nintendo did not state whether booking dates outside the U.S. would change, but Eurogamer reported that bookings reside in the UK.
