The rare planet “smiling face” in the starry sky is happening Thursday to Friday

Rare celestial activities on Thursday and Friday runs will allow Skygazers to watch a smiling face in the early morning sky. Although this is not exactly an emoji, this interesting grouping will show a crescent moon, along with two rising planets Venus and Saturn, close to the horizon. Together they will form a quirky side “smile” that creates great potential for viewers.

“When dawn warms the morning sky, Venus, Saturn and the crescent moon are found in the east, and Mercury can also be seen below them, for those who can clearly see the horizon,” NASA said in SkyWatching Tips this month.

This is not a moon cover, the moon completely covers the planet, but the event is very close to one. If you want the best chance to see this interesting fusion, you should set out before Twilight.

When CNET seeks advice with the Association of Amateur Astronomers, they will let us know: “Thank you for reaching out! Stargazers across the United States can see this combination in the early morning. They should look toward the eastern sky in the sunlight, before sunbathing, local time, local time, all sunlight needs a consistent time, or can be announced at a clear time because it is a consistent time. Check your location.

Once ready, start with a few simple steps:

  • It is still totally dark until dawn in your location.
  • Make sure you have a clear view of the eastern horizon (where the sun rises). Clouds or morning fog may conceal the activity.
  • Find a higher position where the horizon can be clearly seen. Nearby hills or mountains can hide activities, so the clearer the better.
  • Find the moon's crescent moon at the bottom of the horizon.
  • Overlooking the upper right corner of the crescent moon and watching two bright lights glow. You might think of them as stars, but they are planets. Venus should be more obvious than Saturn, making the smile interesting and unbalanced.
  • If you are taking pictures, wait until the bright twilight starts to cover up nearby stars, and the planets are still easy to see.

Smiley is part of Venus' continuous transformation into morning activities throughout April. If your field of vision specifically includes low stars, Mercury will also appear.
