The man allegedly fired a fatal shot by police in a LAPD helicopter

Authorities shot and killed a man in Reseda on Sunday night after allegedly firing a shot at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter.

According to LAPD, the deadly shooting began with a police attack around 6:25 p.m., attacking the deadly weapon in the 6400 block of Reseda Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers said they saw a man hit an apartment building near the intersection of Reseda and Victory Boulevards.

The LAPD helicopter also responded to the scene and reported that the suspect appeared to have fired his pistol on the airship. The initial report indicated that the helicopter did not hit.

Police then chased the suspect to the back alley of the apartment building where a police shooting occurred. Los Angeles Fire Department medical staff responded to the incident and announced the man died at the scene.

The department's Force Investigation Department is investigating the shooting. Authorities said the suspect's pistol had been found and will be examined with video and physical evidence.

Police said no officers or civilians were injured during the incident, nor were there outstanding suspects.

According to police records, this is the 11th person to be shot by a LAPD in 2025.
