A man shot by police outside Toronto airport

An authoritative person said a man died after a police shooting at Toronto's Pearson International Airport Thursday morning.
Peel area police initially said on social media that a man was shot dead outside the terminal.
The Toronto special investigation department identified the man as 30 years old. The department said the Peel area police are investigating a “man in distress” in the SUV in the departure area of the airport's main terminal. Early reports indicate the man produced a firearm and three officers were fired, the department said.
The man was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, the department said. Peel care workers initially said they were summoned to the airport at 6:56 a.m. and no one was taken to the hospital. Photos of Canadian media at the scene appear to show a body under a yellow tarpaulin outside the departure area of the airport terminal.

The shooting will be investigated by the Special Investigation Department. Three forensic investigators and six investigators have been assigned to the case.
The department said no police were injured and there were no known threats to the public.
Ontario police said the road was closed from Highway 409 to Terminal 1.
Videos posted to social media earlier Thursday appeared to show a large number of police officers outside the airport.
The car seems to be backing up along the road leading to the terminal.
