Bluesky introduces blue check marks and new verification methods

Bluesky, a new social media website, has launched a new verification system that is verified through two methods. The company is resuming Twitter-style blue checkmarks.
The Blues will “actively verify authentic and well-known accounts and display blue checks next to their name,” the company said in a blog post on Monday.
This is how Twitter uses verification before Elon Musk purchases the site, renames it X and allows users to purchase check marks. So if you crave 2017 Twitter, you will feel familiar. Users who are verified with this method will see a smooth, round blue check icon added next to their Blue Army name.

Bluesky doesn't specify how it selects these accounts, but it does point out in its blog post that 270,000 people have set their domain as usernames, which is how users and companies currently “verify” their accounts. Like old Twitter, it might be based on influence and could include celebrities and well-known companies.
The user will also apply for verification in the end. However, the Blues said the app is now closed until the new system is complete.
The company can verify others
Additionally, the Blues will allow trusted and verified companies to verify others. These “trustworthy validators” will be able to provide their colleagues with a blue Checkmark. In the Blues’ example, The New York Times will be able to verify its writers in this way and grant them a blue check mark.
To keep things above the board, users can leverage check marks and see which organization grants individual verification. The Blues have not said how to choose a trusted validator, but they will distinguish them from approved users and validated users and companies with a fan-shaped blue check mark instead of a circle.
The feature was launched on April 21, and the check mark has begun to appear in the app. If you don't want to participate in the feature, you can turn it off by going to Settings > Medine > Verify Settings and ticking the box with “Hide Verification Badge”.
