Bluesky

Bruinsky is adopting an official verification system after all. The company said it plans to grant blue finalists to “real and famous” accounts. It will also allow some “trusted organizations” to authenticate users.

The change is a significant shift in the upstart platform, which previously rejected the idea of centralized verification. Until now, the company has relied on a domain-based verification system that allows users to change their handles to match the domains associated with it. But this method is because it is too complex and provides insufficient protection.

These criticisms will only amplify, as Bluesky is becoming more popular and attracting more outstanding users. For example, when current President Barack Obama joined Bluesky in recent weeks, his approach did not use the customization realm, which is understandable, and many users question whether the account is real. Instead, individual Blues employees ended up publicly guaranteeing the account was legal.

Under the Blues' new system, the company will proactively verify certain accounts and add a prominent blue checkmark to its profile. It is unclear which standards Bluesky will use in these badges or how it plans to verify the user's identity. Additionally, there will be a slightly different blue badge (one with a “scaling edge”) that some “trusted organizations” can be granted through the new “Trusted Validator” feature.

The New York Times It is such an organization that now newspapers will be able to distribute blue checks to their journalists. The Blues did not say other organizations could participate in the program, but added that it would review third-party verifications to “ensure authenticity.”

It is worth noting that people and organizations still “strongly encourage (d)” to verify themselves through custom domains. It sounds like new blue ticks may at least be in short supply. “At this initial stage, the Blues do not accept direct applications for verification,” the company wrote in the announcement. “As this feature stabilizes, we will launch a request form for a well-known and real account that has been verified or become a trusted verifier of interest.”
