Mexican drug lord released DEA agent after completing verdict
Mexico City (AP) – The drug ornesto Ernesto “Don Neto” Fonseca Carrillo was convicted of the killing of a U.S. Drug Enforcement agent in 1985, and was released after a 40-year prison sentence.
Fonseca, 94, has been serving her sentence under a family ban outside Mexico City since moving out of prison in 2016. Federal agents demanded anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the case, and he said he was released last weekend.
Fonseca, the co-founder of Guadalajara Cartel, and Rafael Caro Quintero, was convicted of the crime of kidnapping, torture and murder by DEA agent Enrique Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
Caro Quintero, who was also convicted of the murder case, was one of 29 cartel figures sent to the United States in February.
It is not clear whether the United States will also seek fonseca.
Fonseca was arrested in Puerto Vallata in 1985.
