King Charles invites Trump to make his unprecedented second British country visit – Country

U.S. President Donald Trump accepted an invitation to attend an official state visit with Charles III, which was handed over to him by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a letter.

Traditionally, the second president who had made a formal state visit – Trump formally met with Elizabeth II in 2019 – had tea or lunch with the monarch of Windsor Castle.

Trump received a “historic” second invitation at a meeting with Starmer on Thursday, making him the only political leader recently handed over to two by the British monarchy.

“It's really special, it's never happened, it's unprecedented,” Stamer told the president.

After receiving the invitation, Trump pushed it to the camera inside the Oval Office.

“All I can say is…I'm glad to expand the invitation again, hoping that you…are visiting Turnberry at some stage and bypassing relatively close neighbors may not cause you much inconvenience. Another option might be your visit to Balmoral.”

The letter continued: “In addition to this opportunity discussing a wide range of common interests, it will also provide valuable opportunities for the planning of a historic second visit to the UK.”

It concluded: “In doing so, I know we will further enhance the special relationship between the two countries we are both very proud of.”

Stemmer said the invitation “symbolizes the power of relations between Britain and the United States” and then asked if Trump would accept the king’s “very special” proposal.

The president replied: “The answer is yes.”

The hand-signed letter appeared for more than a month after the King sent his written congratulations to Trump before taking office.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the king invited overseas political leaders, monarchs and presidents to invite the king with the permission of the government.
