Nintendo has just held a live stream to introduce more details on the upcoming Switch 2 console. Finally, it reveals a brand new 3D platformer starring Donkey Kong. This is the first game since Donkey 64 It has been hitting Nintendo 64 in 1999. Looks cool! Many environments are destructible, so the DK can get in there and destroy things. It also has side-rolling segments, a bit like the modern Mario 3D platformer that occasionally dips into its 2D roots. We had to try it out with the Switch 2 and while it looked great, it also felt like the kind of game that looked great on the original switch. With Nintendo's title stylized graphics, the Switch 2's upgrades don't have the same impact as they do in other games. This is not a big knock, but just something to pay attention to.
There is a sleek and cartoony atmosphere throughout the whole thing, and what people expect from our favorite gorilla. However, in the trailer, I didn't hear the lick of the famous donkey hole rap, but it's just as iconic "Oh, banana" From DK64 It did make a brief cameo.
The trailer does show DK climbing the side of the hill (get his botw– Times Link), and scroll in multiple locations. These include forests and ice areas. The lens also shows the meanest hole I've ever seen.
