After 6 deaths, the tourist submarine fell into the Egyptian coast – National

Six people died and nine others were injured after a tourist submarine sank in a popular Egyptian Red Sea destination, two city officials said Thursday. They spoke without anonymity because they did not have the right to introduce it to the media.

According to a statement issued by the Red Sea Province, emergency personnel were able to rescue 29 people. The submarine is sailing on one of the beaches in the Promenade area, carrying 45 tourists from various ethnic groups.

It is not clear what caused the submarine to sink.

Egyptian officials said a yacht sank in the Red Sea after warning of rough water. At least four people drowned, while 33 were rescued.

Tourism is an important sector of Egypt's economy, but due to the dangers caused by conflict in the region, many travel companies have stopped or limited travel in the Red Sea.
