C&A's streamlining continues, French store closures announced
A C&A spokesman said in a statement to Just Style that after consulting the project “redefining its store portfolio”, C&A’s management decided to close 24 stores in France “experienced structural difficulties”.
In addition, all 57 shopping carts in France will be closed for C&A.
Due to the reduced number of products being processed, C&A has moved to accommodate the distribution centers of Villenoy and its labor force.
Overall, this will result in 324 layoffs “intentionally to improve C&A’s competitiveness in France and secure the future of the brand in the French apparel market, which deteriorates and C&A France has experienced financial difficulties.”
C&A said it will consult with affected employees in the next few weeks and over the next four months, it will study projects that redefine the French business footprint.
“This is part of C&A's European strategy to continue its transformation to better meet consumer needs, future needs of the company and ensure the future of a brand with a 184-year-old history. C&A aims to focus on the core of the business, excellent execution, flexibility and excellence of innovation, and ensure its future development and merged products, and provide high-quality prices – giving it an advantage in supply – and providing high-quality prices – and blending the entire approach and perfecting throughout the process, and perfecting throughout the process, and dressing throughout the process, and integrating it into the process. Potential, especially, to adjust its physical store network,” the statement added.
Last month, C&A confirmed that the facility failed to meet retailers' expectations and would close its R&D plant in Germany.
“The simplification of C&A continues to announce the French store closure” was originally created and published by GlobalData-owned brand Just Style.
