Imran Khan supporters share manipulation clips by former chief justice

Imran Khan's party has publicly criticized the bias of retired Supreme Court chief judge Qazi Faez Isa to deal with legal cases related to Pakistan's former leader sentenced to jail. But it is allegedly a video of ISA Acknowledge that his partisan ruling was manipulated digitally. He did not make such remarks in his initial interview, which was conducted before he became the head of the court.

“The attempt of hypocrite Qazi Faez Isa to avoid all abuse caused to Imran Khan and (Pakistan) tehreek-e-insaf by accusing the system (meaning the head of the army),” read the Urdu language X POST published on March 9.

Its clip shows an interview with ISA, who seems to be saying: “The system in Pakistan is a bit complicated. If you think that as Chief Justice, I have all the power, that's wrong.”

“My role in all the situations you talk about is limited. Yes, some of the powers that are not visible in the media also affect what I cannot name here in these situations.”

The text covered on the video reads: “I have no hatred with Imran Khan, but this is against his system. You can't make independent decisions in Pakistan as Chief Justice.”

The post has over 60,000 views.

Khan's supporters also shared similar posts on X and Facebook, responding to allegations from his Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party that the Supreme Court under the ISA has made many unfair decisions (archived links).

Khan, 72, has been detained since August 2023 on charges of about 200 cases he claimed were politically motivated (a link to archive).

He has been convicted four times since his arrest, two convictions have been overturned and two other cases have been sentenced.

The former cricketer was expelled from power by a vote of unconfidence in 2022 and has since launched an unprecedented campaign, where he publicly criticized Pakistan's powerful general.

Analysts say the military leader is Pakistan's king-maker, despite the general's denial of interfering in politics.

The audio produced

However, the video has been inserted into fabricated remarks through digital manipulation.

A reverse image search was performed on Google using the keyframe in the clip and it was discovered that it was a longer video (archive link) on the Oxford Federation YouTube channel released on October 10, 2022.

The video is titled “Judge Qazi Faez Isa: A comprehensive Q&A of the Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Oxford Union” and showed him speeches and interviews.

During the event, he spoke about Pakistan's judiciary, including the Supreme Court ruling in April 2022, that Khan's decision to dissolve the parliament was illegal and ordered a vote of unconfidence against his government (archive link).

The ISA admits nothing in the full video that the judiciary’s bias against Khan is what the post claims.

At that time, the ISA was a Supreme Court judge and was in charge only on September 17, 2023 (a link to archive).
