Nebraska man strives to change daughter's name from “Unakite 13 Hotel”

When Jason Kilburn searches for the birth certificate of his toddler daughter, he is shocked to find that she is legally called “Unakite nirkite nirteen 13 Hotel” due to her mistakes. Worse, she doesn't have a Social Security number.
The unfortunate environment and bureaucratic chaos caused by Mr. Kilburn's back and forth with government agencies for a month, providing his daughter with simple identification documents, which he called Caroline.
Kilburn, 49, of Nebraska Valley, learned two years ago that a woman he was dating had a daughter, which might be his. The baby was born on November 5, 2022 in a house on the Iowa State Council Cliff. Mother, who struggled with homelessness and drug abuse, did not take care of her children, and when she did not join her children, a friend arranged for a newborn to be taken to a nearby hospital.
Joshua Livingston, a Kilburn lawyer, said the hospital gave her a temporary, ridiculous name that seemed to be generated by a computer. The name is Unakite 13 Hotel.
After being identified as the biological father, she remained in state authorities until Mr. Kilburn was approved. Then he embarked on a long and frustrating battle that had not been resolved.
“It's been a long and difficult process,” Kilburn said in a text forwarded on Tuesday. “I will continue to work hard to get my daughter to provide the documents she needs.”
The unfortunate name is just part of what Mr. Kilburn is working to solve. She also never issued a Social Security number, and he was unable to use her birth certificate because it was marked “for government use only.”
Without them, Mr. Kilburn is working to get his daughter’s health insurance, child care and other necessary services. It seems Caroline is a kid with a rosy cheek feet that does not exist – there is no light blonde hair – there is no.
Mr Livingston said how the proper birth certificate or social security number was never obtained, and officials have not yet determined which agency made the mistake that led to the problem.
While this weird name attracted media coverage, it is not uncommon for children born without parents or guardians to get rid of the names of ridiculous placeholders. These names are usually changed quickly once the parent or guardian has obtained custody.
But in this case Mr. Kilburn could not change his name because he had no available birth certificate or Caroline's Social Security Number – Mr. Livingston said it was a rare misfortune caused by “bureaucratic chaos.”
A spokesman for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said in an email that the agency could not disclose specific information about the case, but confirmed that the department is working with Mr. Kilburn's attorney to resolve the issue. A spokesman for the Social Security Agency also declined to provide specific details, but said the government had contacted Mr. Kilburn.
In a text through a lawyer, Mr Kilburn said he was optimistic that the issue would be resolved, adding that media attention increased his communication with government departments.
Despite Caroline's difficulties in her early life and some of the problems caused by bureaucratic mistakes, her father says she is a normal, violent toddler who can be found in “Old MacDonald” ” sings with “Eieio”. The best of them.
“They're true about the terrible two,” Kilburn said. “But I won't be with her for a day.”
