Calendar flipped this week in March. More than four months of the 2024-25 season have passed, and the regular season stretching has passed.
Let's break down some of the AHL storylines to watch the Calder Cup playoffs intensify.
âž¡Can Hershey win three consecutive championships?
Leading scorer Essen Frank His NHL debuted in early January and has remained in the Washington capital ever since. Head coach Todd Nelson After many family losses this season, his team took on his team’s mission. Injuries, illness and wear and tear on back-to-back trips with certain players are challenges to manage. However, through all this, the Bears ranked first among the Atlantic Divisions with a record of 31-14-5-0.
A 10 Road Trip – This is the longest road trip in the history of the Storied series on March 7. However, the Bears this season have made a great start this season with a record of 16-3-4-0 (.783).
This season doesn't always make sense at Hershey, but they're once again a reality on top teams in the AHL. They still have a long way to go since the Springfield Indians won the game in 1962, if they become the first team to win three straight Calder Cup titles, but they have at least given themselves a chance.
âž¡How far can goalkeeper Devon Levi take Rochester Americans?
Like Hershey, Amerks has a long history. But this spring will be 29 years since Rochester hosted the Calder Cup, and they have not reached the Calder Cup final since 2000.
Can another title be added to the six titles Amerks already has this year? If Devon Levi continues to play his role in his way.
Levi averaged 2.16 goals last week (third in the AHL) and .919 savings percentage (sixth) (sixth) (sixth) and 2.16 goals (seventh) and received a 19-6-2 hockey/AHL player honor this season. His five closed doors were his league lead.
Levi's arrival from Buffalo pushed Amerks to the top of the league. Since our Thanksgiving, Rochester has been 26-7-0-1, entering the weekend to win 11 of 13. Sophomore professionals are expected to be a key part of the Saber's future and, long in the Calder Cup playoffs, perhaps all the way – and even another step towards that goal.
Will Andrew Poturalski win the league scoring championship again?
Andrew Poturalski is a playoff game, but his regular season efforts are worthy of attention.
Poturalski is the 2020-21 AHL lead scorer John B. Sollenberger Trophy, as the AHL lead scorer, Poturalski once again sat at the top of the rankings this season, scoring 51 points in 47 games in San Jose isak rose.
Only two players in AHL history have won three scoring titles: Bill Sweeney (1960-61, 1961-62, 1962-63) and Peter White (1994-95, 1996-97, 1997-98).
âž¡How about those Utica comets?
Starting with a 13-game winning streak, it seems that the Comets' playoff chances were buried in mid-November.
Not so fast. Since then, Utica has climbed within 11 points in Syracuse with a 19-14-3-0 record, with a playoff spot in the North District. More importantly, they have seven more meetings with Crunch. Those four-point matches of proverbs may swing the north situation quickly.
âž¡How will the upper half of the Central Division get rid of?
The NHL recall attack may be as important as any team in the AHL this season.
But an active front desk brought it Anders Bjork,,,,, Chase De Leo,,,,, Grigori Denisenko,,,,, Mark Friedman And, recently, Jesse Elonin Patch those holes. Therefore, the Admiral served as the Central Division.
But they scored four games for the second-place Texas star, who was only two points behind. Grand Rapids even reached Texas' 59 points and scored three-pointers in three quarters last weekend.
âž¡ Can the Santiago Seagulls enter the Calder Cup playoffs?
A month ago, it seemed like the San Diego Seagulls missed the Calder Cup playoffs for the third straight season.
But the AHL is the league of the stripes, with the Seagulls winning their seventh straight game Wednesday night, improving to 8-1-1-0 since the All-Star Game. San Diego is only five points behind Tucson in the final playoff position in the Pacific Division.
Obtained from Detroit earlier this week Ville Husso His Seagull made his debut on Wednesday and stopped 34 shots in a 4-0 closed-door field in Calgary.
âž¡How many rosters can be stored?
The NHL trade deadline is set for March 7 and the AHL trade/loan roster deadline is set for March 14. There will also be late-term prospects for habits from NCAA, CHL and Europe to AHL.
How will the NHL trade deadline affect the AHL roster this year? Will the highest prospects set out in trade to benefit the NHL parent team? Is the same top prospect with another AHL team? One or two moves can quickly change the power balance of the alliance.
Will the AHL team make their own moves? Change the AHL roster – Even after the NHL has completed the action, it is an option for the AHL general manager until the 14th.
âž¡Why is the first place so beneficial?
Ask any AHL head coach: Three best playoff series scares them.
In such a short series, anything could happen and the playoff hopes will disappear soon. Coachella Valley has entered the 2023 Calder Cup finals with little to nowhere. In the first round, the Firebirds were pushed to the third game of winning the championship, a team that was 34 points behind. Last year, the Roadrunners finished second-place finishing with seventh-place Calgary’s best three-pointer.
Ranked first, guaranteeing goodbye to the five best division semifinals. While the team chasing the playoffs had their own battles, the department could also rely on angry games in the first half until the end of the regular season to secure this first place.
