If you are one of the AI enthusiasts who bought a Humane AI PIN, it's time to go by. Scott Stein, chief writer of Wearable Devices (CNET), is heading the device, compared to “AI-powered Star Trek Communicator fixed to a shirt.”
Humane was acquired by HP and announced on Tuesday that it would stop selling pins. And, don't think you'll have a lot of time to avoid pin use – it's a very accelerated timeline.

“Your AI PIN will continue to function properly until 12:00 pm on February 28, 2025,” Humane said in a statement. “After this date, it will no longer be connected to humane servers and .center access will be fully retired.”
The company said the AI PIN feature will no longer include calls, messaging, AI queries and responses, and cloud access.
“We strongly recommend that you sync your AI PIN on Wi-Fi and download all stored images, videos and notes for .center until February 28, 2025,” the statement said. “If you don't, your data will Lost on February 28, 2025 at 12 pm on PST deleted. ”
The Humane Representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
First-hand experience
CNET's Scott Stein reviewed the device in April 2024 and noted that the $699 PIN seems like a science fiction novel, but it's available.
“The idea inside the human vision is interesting, but the execution and its total lack of connection to any phone call – makes it ridiculous,” Stein said Tuesday. “And it's hard to control, it's not working well, it's overheating very quickly.”
Stein likes language translation and says that the quality of his camera is “decent but not very good”. The device does not respond to voice activation and must be continuously put into use.
In his comments, Stan said that the pin can read things aloud, try to identify cars, plants and locations, or describe rooms. But it's not without problems. When he asked it to determine a can of Spindrift-flavored sparkling water, it told him about the 2022 Apple TV Plus movie that might ask his device to “see” the title of the movie “Luck.”
