Google is launching AI model to everyone in the United States

Google has begun rolling out AI models to every search user in the United States. The company announced its expansion during its I/O 2025 conference. Google began previewing AI modes in its lab program using testers to preview them in early March. Since then, it has gradually introduced the feature to more people, including regular search users in recent weeks. In today’s keynote, Google also shared many updates, including some new shopping tools, as well as the ability to compare your ticket prices and create custom charts and charts to query financial and sports queries.
For beginners, the AI model is a chatbot built directly into Google search. It lives in a separate tab designed by the company to solve more complex queries than people use their search engine to answer. For example, you can use AI mode to generate comparisons between different fitness trackers. Until today, the chatbot was powered by Gemini 2.0. Now it is running a custom version of Gemini 2.5. More importantly, Google plans to bring many AI-mode features to other parts of the search experience.
“AI mode is where we first bring Gemini’s boundary features, and it’s also a glimpse into what’s going to happen,” the company wrote in a blog post published during the event. “When we get feedback, we take many of the features we graduated from the AI mode to the core search experience of the AI overview.”
Going forward, Google plans to bring in-depth search (a branch of its in-depth research model) to the AI model. Google was one of the companies that made their first debut in December. Since then, most AI companies, including OpenAI, have continued to delve into the depth, which you can use to prompt Gemini and other chatbots to spend more time creating a comprehensive report on topics. With today’s announcements, Google is offering the tool where it may encounter more users.
The work Google has done with Project Mariner has built another new feature of the AI model, and the company began previewing web surfing AI agents late last year using the Trusted Tester. This addition enables AI mode to complete tasks for you on the network. For example, you can ask it to find two affordable tickets in your city’s next MLB game. AI mode will compare your “hundreds of potential” tickets and return with some of the best options. From there, you can complete the purchase without doing the comparison work.
“This will start with event tickets, restaurant reservations and local dates,” Google said. “And, we will work with companies like Ticketmaster, Stubhub, Resy and Vavaro to create a seamless and useful experience.”
The AI pattern will also soon include the ability to generate custom charts and graphics for your specific queries. Meanwhile, the AI model will be more personalized in the near future, and Google has introduced optional features that allow the tool to draw its past searches. The company will also give people the option to connect their other Google apps to the AI model that begins with Gmail for more granular suggestions.
As mentioned above, Google is adding a set of shopping features to the AI model. Engadget has a separate post dedicated to Google's shopping feature announced today, but the downside is that the AI model will be able to narrow your product range and, on your behalf, complete your purchase on your behalf.
All the new AI mode features previewed by Google today will be available to lab users first before they can be launched more widely.
