One person was killed and three policemen were injured in a knife attack in Mulhouse, eastern France.

A 37-year-old Algerian man was arrested at the scene and prosecutors made a terrifying inquiry because the suspect reportedly shouted “Alahu Akba”, or “God is great.”

The man seriously injured two policemen, one on the neck and one on the chest. Civilians who attempted to intervene were stabbed and killed.

According to local prosecutors, the suspect was bound by an expulsion order because he was on the terrorism watch list. President Emmanuel Macron said, “No doubt this is an Islamic terrorist attack.”

After Macron expressed his condolences to the victim’s family, Macron said: “I want to reaffirm the government’s determination and continue to work and continue to work to eliminate terrorism in our soil.”

The incident took place during a demonstration in support of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where police patrol.

“Horror movies have taken over our city,” said Murhouse Mayor Michele Lutz on Facebook.

French Prime Minister François Bayrou posted on X, “The fanatics attack again, we are mourning.”

“My thoughts naturally pay tribute to the victims and their families, hoping that the injured will recover,” he said.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau is expected to visit the scene on Saturday night.
