Australian actress and country music star are the latest A-list celebrities who are victims of thieves. Sources say these burglaries are not targeting owners because of their superstars, but more targeting high-end items that may be found in their luxury homes.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told the Times that police made a theft report on Lime Orchard Road at 8 p.m. Friday. The spokesman said officers learned from security personnel that the thief smashed the glass door of the residence, ransacked the house and fled.
The couple was not at home at the time. Unknown whether any items are adopted.
Located in a hidden valley gated community in Los Angeles, Lime Orchard Road is located near the exclusive post office in Beverly Hills, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lawrence ( Jennifer Lawrence, Adele and Katy Perry all bought residences, except for Kidman and the City, The New York Post.
The Times reported that Kidman and the city bought their own home for $4.7 million in 2008. Built in 1965, this 4,100 square foot five-bedroom home is located on 1¼ acre of land. The property has large windows that offer views of the canyon.
They are one of several celebrity properties stolen in Los Angeles and across the country, some of which are believed to be connected to the organized killing ring in South America.
Earlier this month, Olivier Giroud, the former home of West Los Angeles, was also targeted. On February 5, LAPD responded to reports of smashed windows and family burglaries in French football players’ homes.
Law enforcement sources said $500,000 worth of items were removed from home, including expensive watches.
Giroud, a member of the French national team that won the 2018 World Cup football match, moved to Los Angeles last year after signing with LAFC.
It is unclear whether the break-in at Giroud's home and the fact that Kidman and Urban's residences are related to organized theft groups.
The FBI said in December that organized theft groups from South America are believed to have lagged behind theft in the homes of at least nine professional athletes between September and November 2024.
The FBI warned the sports league, pointing out criminal groups aim to pursue cash and valuables, including watches, designer handbags and jewelry. Some of the most prominent figures in the sports field in the United States, including Patrick Mahomes, Luka Dončić and Travis Kelce – are victims of these break-ins.
In January, the Beverly Hills Police Department and the Glendale Police Department jointly arrested five suspects who were believed to be part of a criminal circle responsible for a series of residential thefts.
Police said that during the search warrants were conducted in the suspect's residence, detectives searched for stolen guns, jewelry, watches, luxury handbags, designer clothing and other luxury items belonging to the victim.
