If you deleted this weird new folder in Windows, you need to put it back. This is the method

Windows 11 users browse files after updates earlier this month may notice new folders they don't recognize. This proves to be very important.
The empty folder is marked “inetpub”, causing curiosity and confusion online, and some people deleted it. This folder is used to manage the logs of the Internet Information Service, but it seems to be the case even for those who don't have the service.
According to Microsoft, although nothing obviously happens after the folder is deleted, deleting creates a security vulnerability.
“After the updates listed in the security update table for the operating system are installed, a new %SystemDrive%InetPub folder is created on the device,” Microsoft said in the security update. “This folder should not be deleted regardless of whether the Internet Information Services (IIS) is active on the target device. This behavior is part of the change that increases protection and no action is required and no action is required for the end user.”
Microsoft said the removal creates a problem in which an attacker can access your computer using what is called a “vulnerability behind a link.” Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.
What to do if you delete the “InetPub” folder in Windows
According to the latest information from Windows, if you delete the folder, resuming it by opening the Internet Information Service will fix the vulnerability.
Do this:
- Access your optional Windows features via Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- choose Turn Windows features on or off.
- Check the box next to it Internet Information Services.
- Click OK.
You can open the Windows folder and double check that “InetPub” is back. That's it.
