Jimmi Simpson fears Black Mirror's return to Callister is not “essential”

After dozens of thought-bending, thought-provoking escapes, it spans time and space Black mirror Season 7 is solving new things: the first sequel of all time.

The Emmy Award-winning Netflix series abandoned the finale “USS Callister: Infinity” during the entire six-episode season seven on Thursday, April 10. The huge 90-minute plot makes many actors from Black mirror Season 4 “USS Callister” (including Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Billy Magnussen, Osy Ikhile, Milanka Brooks and Paul G. Raymond) took another adrenaline pumping adventure.

The crew of USS Callister is still trapped in Infinity’s space virtual reality MMORPG with little scratches, robbing other players’ credibility to simply survive. In the real world, when a tenacious investigative journalist starts asking questions, the robbery in the crew’s game becomes a problem for Infinity’s greedy CEO Jimmi Simpson, threatening to hint at the company and its former founder Robert Daly.

Sequels are usually hard to complete well, but “USS Callister: In Infinity” is a rare exception, thanks to years of development Black Mirror Creator Charlie Brooker has worked on the script for many years after airing “USS Callister” in December 2017 and has become one of the show's most popular episodes.

Simpson told Engadget that he first learned that he would revisit Black Mirror The universe of 2021. The 49-year-old actor is in the The West World, Dark Matter and Pachinko – However, Simpson was still “surprised” when the projects fuse together.

“When people say this is happening, I never believe them until it is really He said. “He said. In addition to his hesitation about the show, Simpson also retained the original episode that could be successfully iterated. “It's a single piece Movie. I'm a little cynical,” he said, “How do you go [the first episode]. ”

“They not only found the reason for spending more time with these characters, but also the reason why the story is not finished yet,” he continued. “That's my favorite part and they make this kind of sequel essential.”

Revisiting Walton seven years later is not as difficult as he thought. “It's natural. It's kind of like an old suit with ketchup. So it's familiar, but it smells weird,” Simpson muses. “So I just fell into that guy.”

Many of Simpson's scenes this time are with Milioti, who reprised the role of Infinite Programmer and now becomes the captain of USS Callister. For Simpson, she is the ideal agent partner.

“[Milioti] He explained that his pause was like a jazz musician and she was always alive, so I think our work was my favorite thing. ”

Brooke previously described Season 7 as “a little OG” Black Mirror” and “Back to the Basics in Many Ways”, which is great for the much-loved performance. Since its premiere in 2011, it has left an indelible impression on the audience, weaving shocking speculative novel premises through a deep sense of humanity.

Simpson hopes for long-term Black Mirror Audiences, especially fans of “USS Callister” – found the show's first “extended” plot worth a long wait, and it took some time by the cast and crew to “beyond”.

“Entertainment, you know, what we're doing, it's to give you a good time because sometimes the world sucks,” he admitted. “So let's spend some time together. We've got it in spades. I think we have a little comment on the power of loneliness and solidarity, and it shows you these things perfectly.”
